Q: How can I request a quote or meeting?

Q. How does the color selection process work?

There are endless possibilities for flake, metallic, and solid color options with epoxy flooring. We encourage you to provide ideas and will also bring samples to the consultation for consideration. For flake flooring systems you can gain inspiration by visiting www.torginol.com and selecting nearly any color option. Typically flake floors will start with a light gray or tan base coat but this is customizable as well.

Q. What is epoxy flooring and why is it beneficial?

Epoxy flooring is a long lasting coating system. Once the resin and hardener are mixed and applied to concrete it creates a chemical resistant surface that enhances garages, basements, and commercial spaces. They look great, are easy to clean, and can be customized with slip resistant options.

Q. How long does installation take?

Most projects take one to two days depending on the size of the project. Cure times will vary based on the selected chemistry (epoxy, polyurea, polyurethane, polyaspartic), temperature, and humidty. Typically the floor is open for foot traffic within 24 hours and can be driven on within a few days. Technical data sheets and cure times will be provided after product selection.

Q. How should I prepare my floor before installation?

Please remove all belongings on the floor 24 hours prior to scheduled start. If you want to give it a quick sweep and blow out the cobwebs it is appreciated, but our team will prepare the floor. The concrete preparation process includes diamond grinding and a lot of dust is created. We will seal off entryways to the home, however if you have cabinets or electronics Hanging on the walls it is advisable to seal them off with poly sheeting or visqueen.

Q. What should I expect on the day of installation?

The 1st Gear services team will arrive at the agreed upon time. Equipment will be unloaded and they will get to work. Vacuums, grinders, and generators will be running for a large portion of the day and will make considerable noise. This is especially true in the morning during concrete preparation. A base coat will be installed and if selected the flake will be broadcasted. The crew will go to lunch while to allow time to dry prior to installing a clear top coat in the afternoon.
